After disappointing results at both the Stocksbridge and HMT Monsal hill climbs the previous 2 weeks, The Rake was set to be a test for Joe’s form.
If Joe performed well, it would suggest the short rest followed by some specific hill climb training had worked. If he didn’t perform well, it would be a sign of deeper fatigue from a long hard season and we would have ended Joe’s hill climb season.
Joe had won at The Rake last convincingly beating Dan Evans and Richard Handley of OnePro.
Joe won by 2.2 seconds from Evans the 2014 British Champion. Needless to say, Joe was happy that his form seemed to have picked up and we could prepare for the British Championships with confidence.
