This years edition of the race proved to be as tough as expected.

2 riders, from JLT & Bike Channel, went clear early in the race, and bunch allowed them a maximum gap of 5 minutes before the chase began in earnest.

The bunch had been constantly whittled down on the narrow climbs.

After 2 wheel changes and 2 hard chases back to the bunch, Liam’s race was over at 120km.
He would no doubt have been up there with Jake and Joe had he not had such bad luck.

On the final climb and with 15km to go, the front group split into 2. Joe was able to go with the front group, but Jake didn’t quite have the climbing legs. Jake and Joe had ridden extremely effectively all day, heavily outnumbered by the big teams.

The 2 early attackers had been caught. A counter attack saw 8 riders go clear.
Joe went on to finish 15th.
Jake was 38th.
A great result rewarding some great team riding and real graft.
